Cromer Shoal Chalk Beds MCZ Marker Buoys

It was intended that the buoys would be deployed today (Friday 10 May 2024) but this has been postponed to provide time for further consideration of the logistics of deployment in a manner best suiting the aims of the project at the current time.

It is hoped that this will be resolved shortly, and further updates will be provided when this is the case.

In the meantime, please continue to rely on vessel plotters or the hand-held GPS plotters supplied by the Authority to avoid deployment of fishing gear within the closed areas.  We will continue to monitor fishing locations during patrols and via the trackers on board vessels and will notify any fishermen who inadvertently set gear in these areas.

Thank you to all those who have assisted this work by keeping gear away from the buoy deployment sites and out of the voluntary closed areas so far.
