Shrimp Effort Updates

The Shrimp Permit Byelaw 2018 came into force on 31 May 2022, and is intended to enable the Authority to manage shrimp fisheries throughout the district to ensure the fishery operates in a way that does not cause environmental harm.

Within the Wash and North Norfolk Coast SAC (accessed with ‘Category 1’ permits), this involves a limitation on the number of trips that can be taken a year to prevent damage to the environment. This update explains the number of trips taken so far this year, how many trips are expected, and how this will affect how many trips will be available in future years.

This page will show the latest monthly updates for the number of trips within the Shrimp Permit year.
