Cockle Fishery 2023 Extension

Due to low levels of fishing activity in the 2023 cockle fishery, approximately 240 tonnes remain in the TAC. As a result, the fishery’s availability is being extended, and will continue in accordance with the previously issued operating times, dated 17 August 2023.

Letters are being sent to industry with the relevant operating times enclosed, a copy of which can be found here.  As previously indicated, the fishery will close at 2030 hrs on Friday 27 October, but will now re-open at 0400 hrs on Sunday 29 October, and in accordance with the published operating times thereafter, or until further notice.
